New apartment block in Durrington, Worthing
Revised scheme approved in April 2021 following our involvement
Durrington is a neighbourhood in northwest Worthing, on the south coast of England.
We took on this project for seven new two-bed apartments on the site of a vacant church, after the initial planning consent was granted in October 2019.
Following our design review we secured revisions through varying the approved plans in April 2021 to ensure the building would achieve the highest energy efficiencies, and then worked with the council to sign off important details set out in the planning conditions.
The scheme is on a prominent corner plot and long views of the site can be seen along Salvington Road. The scheme features a palette of two brick types, with sections of render and also incorporates cantilevering balconies. It promises to enhance the street scene whilst also delivering much needed new homes for West Worthing and contribute towards Worthing’s efforts to maximise the delivery of new housing.
Work is already underway on site. After producing a comprehensive detailed working drawing set, we are now working closely with the contractor and QED Structures to monitor progress on site and resolve any issues that arise so that the scheme is delivered to the highest spec as intended.
It's great to see the project taking shape: you can see the latest progress below, with the ground floor shell almost complete and the first floor Posi-Joists now being installed. The scheme is due to be completed in the late Autumn 2022, with residents moving in by Christmas.
